Dementia

Dementia is a disease which gets progressively worse and as yet, there is no cure for it.  It can be a very frightening condition to experience because it is an illness that changes people’s personalities and mannerisms.  These people you love are not the same and do things you cannot always comprehend.   Someone you have known probably all of your life is now a total stranger.  It is absolutely understandable if you are now at the point where you are considering putting that person into care.  At Regal, we believe that our responsibility not only lies with caring for the client, but also with ensuring that you are given the support you need to go passed the feelings of guilt you may have so you may realise that the decision you have taken is the right one.  To do this, we encourage the involvement of relatives and friends as much as possible with the development of our client’s care plans.

Our method of working with dementia sufferers is based on the debilitating nature of the disease. The strengths and abilities that the sufferer still has are worked with extensively, for them to have as fulfilled life as possible.  We feel that with our care team - who are very experienced with this particular client group - we provide a standard of care that you will be able to rest assured with, knowing that your loved one is having their every need catered for.

So, if you want to talk about your loved one, we are just a phone call away.  If we can help in any way, we will always try to do so.  And if you feel that you want to choose one of our Homes to care for your loved one, we will work with you to ensure that their needs are identified and met, and that their time with us is a fulfilling one.
