Get a Feel for the Costs

You might be able to get financial support for your care needs. Your local authority may help pay for some or all of the costs. This help really depends on your financial situation, the amount of savings you have and your ability to contribute to the costs of caring for your loved ones.

If you have limited assets and savings your local authority may pay for all of your care costs.

Check List

1. Care home prices vary so talk to your list of preferred care homes about their costs
2. Ask your care home to explain any contractual obligations, extra costs and notice periods
3. Explore if your loved one is entitled to NHS community health care services such as chiropodists and physiotherapists
4. Discuss your needs with your local authority and see if they can provide financial assistance
